Spring is Here

The past week the weather has been beautiful and the snow piles are disappearing.  Just maybe we will have spring after all.   Happy First Day of Spring!!!!!!

In the past years several of the towns along the OLD RED TRAIL have had city wide clean up campaigns.  It is amazing what happens when many, many people pull together for a project.  After all the snow, dirt, gravel, pine needles leaves and branches, etc. are scattered about, let’s all pull together and clean up our towns.  Let’s keep our towns clean and inviting to all who pass our way.

THE OLD RED / OLD TEN Scenic Byway Volunteer Committee is organizing the 6th Annual 108 Mile Rummage Sale on Saturday, June 3, 2017.  They are donating radio, print and Facebook advertising and providing logo balloons to “mark” each registered sale location.  The advertised sale hours are 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM local time accommodating two counties and two time zones.  Registration forms will be available about May 1 and I will put locations for pick up and names in the various towns of where you may pick up the forms.

So begin gathering your wares as the next weeks will go by fast as we begin working outside when the snow is gone.

I do hope that many of you have visited the OLD RED TRAIL website:  oldredoldten.com.  All of the towns are listed with their churches, cafes, stores, historical sites, recreations areas, history of the town, etc.  Get into that website and start looking up some of interesting areas to visit.  Also, each town has about 4-5 talking trail signs - - - -visit those locations, dial the number listed and hear the history.

Amazing how 10 years can escape the memory.  Last week I wrote that I was in New York City 26 years ago for St. Patrick’s Day.  Really, it was 36 years ago - - - - the year was 1980 and I had just finished working at the Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, New York.

Remember - - - -Rummage sale on June 3, 2017

Until next time, Be Well, Do Good Works, and see you on the OLD RED TRAIL.
